Favorite Things

I thought I would share a few of my favorite things that I am using this year to help me study God's word.

The first being the Scripture Reading Plan I am using provided by the Journey church. I like it because if you get behind it is easy to get caught up. :)

The second is what I am using to help me memorize verses. I have always wanted to memorize Philippians and shared that desire with my husband. He directed me to this site which has a VERY helpful guide to memorizing Philippians!

Pie Time

The last several falls that Gigi has been here Emma has asked her to make a "real" pumpkin pie. Emma LOVES helping with the process and Gigi LOVES baking and having a helper and we of course LOVE to eat it so all are happy! ;)

The first step is to bake the pumpkin.
Wash and dry the outside of the pumpkin. Cut in half across the middle.

Scoop out the seeds and strings. Place pumpkin, cut sides down, in a well-greased, shallow baking pan. Bake at 325 degrees until the shell starts to collapse and the pulp is fork tender (medium size take about 1 hour). Allow to cool, scrape the pulp from the shell. Mash the pumpkin pulp and then let the juices drain from it before measuring and using it in a recipe. Chill until ready to use (if preparing the pie on a different day).

Try a seed if you wish. :)

Prepare your pie crust and make it all pretty! ;)
Leave it unbaked.

16oz  pumpkin
3T butter, melted
1 c sugar
1 T flour
1 (5oz) can evaporated milk
1/4t salt
1/2t cinnamon
1 1/2t vanilla
Mix together the above ingredients. Poor mixture into unbaked pie crust. Bake at 400 degrees for about 40 minutes.

Eat and enjoy! :)

And, for your convenience here is the recipe all in one place:
