Favorite Things

I thought I would share a few of my favorite things that I am using this year to help me study God's word.

The first being the Scripture Reading Plan I am using provided by the Journey church. I like it because if you get behind it is easy to get caught up. :)

The second is what I am using to help me memorize verses. I have always wanted to memorize Philippians and shared that desire with my husband. He directed me to this site which has a VERY helpful guide to memorizing Philippians!

More News from Home

Here is the article in Saturday's Pensacola News Journal. http://www.pnj.com/article/20090523/NEWS01/905230315 Now the Senior Class President and the Student Body President cannot speak at graduation because the school board (in keeping with the ACLU injunction upon them) might pray. Since they are not chosen on a nuetral basis, like the Validictorian, Salutatorian, etc. They are not allowed to speak. It is a shame that the ACLU has chosen this school to pick on. It is my prayer that through it all the remain strong and that the Lord is glorified. Bro. Ted spoke on this matter Sunday Evening. It was a GREAT message. Big Girl vs. Baby

This isn't a baby is it?
Emma has started sucking her thumb and or finger. She has not had a paci in over a year and then about a month ago I started noticing this finger sucking phenomenon. I've been talking with her alot about things a baby does and things a big girl does. If she starts sucking her finger or thumb I pick her up and hold her like a baby...little "miss independent" does not like that too much. I think I am starting to get it through to her. I'm hoping that this finger sucking will end soon. Now if we could only get her potty trained!

Praying for Frank Lay

Mr. Lay is one of my hero's in the faith, my former Sunday School teacher, a godly, godly deacon at my home church, my former boss, Josh's former principal and part of his ordination council. He is a principal at a school that I had a long-term sub job at just before Josh and I got married.
I have admired Mr. Lay since I first knew him. When I had the honor to sit under his teaching I grew to love him even more. When I had the opportunity to work for him I was honored. He is the best boss I have EVER had. I would give anything to work for him again.
The ACLU filed a lawsuit against Santa Rosa county schools last year and now they are looking to sue Mr. Lay. He has been an educator for 32 years and principal of Pace High School for 20 years. Below are the articles in our home paper (which is skewed and extremely liberal) and soon I hope to have his message that he preached at my home church tonight linked here.
We love you and are praying for you, Mr. Lay!

2 1/2 Years Old

Sweet Emma, You are 2 1/2 years old today. I cannot believe it! You have grown so much and continue to amaze me each day. I bought you 3T clothes for the summer but I think you will be in 4T this winter. Can you slow down your growth a little? I plugged all your information in a growth calculator the other day and it said that you would be 5' 9" by the time you are 18. I wonder if that is true? Your temper has started to flare a little more than I would like but you can be so so sweet. Sharing is a bit difficult at times but overall you are so sweet to your friends and you genuinely care about them. Seth of "Sef" is your best little buddy. You talk about him all the time. Owen and Alyssa are your best friends at school. Alyssa likes to share her chocolate pudding with you...or do you take it from her? I'm not really sure but you definitely come home with it on your shirt. You amaze me with how smart you are and how good you are with names. You are definitely going to mommy's best friend at church. I'm so bad with names but I am confident that you will learn everyone's name quickly...I will need you to help me out when you get older. For now if you could stop asking me "Mommy, who is it?" That would be good. It is kind of embarrassing when I can't remember. :) You know where you live, you know where Papa and GG live, you know where Mam and PawPaw live. You remember all of your great aunts, uncles and cousins names even though you rarely see them. The other day we got a picture of Hunter in the mail and you knew immediately who it was when Mommy opened the envelope. You love shoes (like Mommy). You are beginning to get opinions about the clothes that you wear. I bought you two dresses last weekend, one that you picked out and now you won't let me put it on you without a fight. It is so cute...will you please wear it??? I love coming home each day to your little pitter patter running down the hall and you screaming "Mommy, Momm"! You make my bad days so great. I love you sweet girl.! I can't wait to see what God does with your life.
