Favorite Things

I thought I would share a few of my favorite things that I am using this year to help me study God's word.

The first being the Scripture Reading Plan I am using provided by the Journey church. I like it because if you get behind it is easy to get caught up. :)

The second is what I am using to help me memorize verses. I have always wanted to memorize Philippians and shared that desire with my husband. He directed me to this site which has a VERY helpful guide to memorizing Philippians!

Pray for Gan

My grandmother is having her fourth surgery (I think) in the last six months. She is stronger physically so I think she is better off going into it than she was the previous surgeries. She is just worried about having problems and set backs like she did after the previous surgeries. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and for a smooth and easy recovery. :)
Get well soon, Gan! We can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks! We "Nu" You! (as Emma says)

Bathing Beauty's Hair is Growing!

But then when it is dry it curls up and doesn't look so long. I try to put her hair in ponytails but she moves so much they always end up crooked. Mom...your turn when you arrive! :) Emma's beautiful artwork is behind her...she has "freedom of expression" in the bathtub! I must say those "bathtub crayons" are hard to get off the wall and stain the rags! Ughh!

Sweet, Sweet

Mom and Dad try to hook up with us on Skype sometime during the weekend. And OF COURSE Emma has to be EATING in order to sit still and talk. I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago. Emma was so happy and really enjoyed her "talk time".

Dan the Animal Man

"Dan the Animal Man" came to our church one evening to give his testimony (which is absolutely amazing) through the amazing animals that our Lord created. The group that he spoke to is an unchurched group from Wake Forest/Rolesville High School that our church hosts each Thursday evening. Emma enjoyed all the animals. We (Emma and I) got there just as they were taking the porcupine away so i don't have any pictures of it. :( Dan travels all around sharing his animals. He does secular events and Christian events. His websites are at the bottom.
A Burmese Python
A Baboon :)
Baboon's are really amazing animals. Do some research on the and learn what you can! :)

Happy Valentine's Day (on the Blog)

Emma with her yummy dinner!
Our yummy valentines dinner that I made. Delish!
The Valentine Fair came and Emma racked up! :)
She got a little heart bag, a ladybug purse with a ladybug comb and ladybug brush, a ladybug cup and a "cupcake baking set" for her little kitchen (that she never plays with). At least today she started taking the paper grass out of her easter basket and "cooking" it!

Mider Shoeshun (Mr. Houston) our neighbor brought Emma her first popsicle...she managed to eat it all! Surprise, Surprise!

She's happy but embarrassed that Mommy is taking her picture.

Daddy got Emma a Frosty...this is what happens...and NO the chocolate did not come out of her shirt! I need heeeeeeeelp! She's very happy...even with stains! :) Emma had an "art show" at school and these are some of the beautiful pieces she brought home. She is SOOOOO proud of them. They are hanging up everywhere around our house. Emma says "Oooooh pitty"

Emma got lost one day and lived with another family...she came back with no teeth! :)

This is her eating a hershey kiss...isn't it lovely?

So...Diane Sawyer did a show on FINLAND! How exciting! I did not get to watch it on GMA when it appeared but I found it online. I've linked the show segments here. Burning...

Well...I have not had a good last two days in the case of "the stove". Yesterday there was a fire and today I burned a pot of beans. That is what I get for telling my mom about my friend Angie and her "incident" a while back. I had the beans on the stove cooking, went up to my neighbors to see if they had some cream style corn to put in our Mexican Cornbread...on my way back into our house I slipped on some ice that I thought I was stepping over...I fell down and hurt my back. I thought the beans had plenty of water so I went to the bedroom to lie down. Josh was out in the living room with Emma. All of a sudden he started saying something was burning...I couldn't smell it...yet. Oh boy was it burning...our house smells like a "burnt fire" if that is even possible. We have a nice combination of smells going on. Needless to say...we ended up eating left overs tonight because it was way too late in the day to start another pot of beans. Maybe we'll have beans and cornbread another day this week. It is such great comfort food in this cold, cold weather. On another note, I did make a delicious dessert tonight that I got from one of my favorite blogs ever - http://bakerella.blogspot.com/ - she has the neatest and cutest ideas. I made the Walnut Blondie with Maple Butter Sauce. If I may say so myself it was quite delicious and it looked pretty nice and "professional" all dished up!! :)

Snow and Fire

Well...today we had snow so of course school was canceled. I must say it was nice to have a three day weekend but it is disspointing knowing that we get a day taken away from our spring break. :( Oh well...such is life. We slept in today until around 11 or so. We had a lazy day. I put some chicken on to boil to make White Chicken Chili with. Once it was finished I moved it from the burner and put the skillet on the same burner to make some yummy chocolate chip pancakes. One pancake was in the skillet and then all of a sudden "POOF" a fire started UNDER the skillet. I started screaming, "There's a fire, there's a fire." I cut the burner off, and of course there was still a fire. I just froze. Emma walked into the kitchen and started yelling and pointing "fire, fire". Josh finally came over and moved the skillet and put the fire out. The whole time I was standing there "frozen" watching the fire I kept thinking about the fire that we had in our home in Texas and as well as our apartment burning and our neighbors apartments burning. Thank goodness Josh was home because I kept thinking...what do I put on the fire...flour, baking soda or baking powder...I couldn't quite remember. Now everytime Emma comes into the kitchen she points to the burner and says "no fire, no fire". Hopefully we will have NO MORE FIRE! Thank the Lord our apartment building is STILL standing and everyone is safe! :)
